Sad News

All,

We have some sad news from Oxford Mencap. Our President,(Treasurer and long standing Committee Member) Colin passed away peacefully last weekend. He was involved with Mencap for probably 65yrs!

A service of thanksgiving for Colin Saunders will take place at 11AM Friday 22nd at Wesley Memorial Church on New Inn Hall Street, Oxford. Please do not wear black.

(Donations to Oxford Mencap)

I know his family would be pleased to welcome anyone from Hill End, Oxford Mencap and associated.

Yorkshire Peaks Challenge

On the 15th of April, a group of our wonderful volunteers will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge to raise funds for Oxford District Mencap. This will involve hiking a marathon distance (over 26 miles) with three mountains in it. In order to do it between sunrise and sunset our breaks will be minimal, so it can be a tough challenge. If you are up for it and would like to join them, contact administrator@oxfordmencap.org.uk for more information.

If you would like to support by sponsoring the intrepid fundraisers, you can do so through our just giving page.

Oxford Mencap Three Peaks Challenge! We did it!!

In July last year fourteen intrepid Oxford Mencap volunteers (Jessie, Dan, Alice, Holly, Jack, Nancy, Omolara, Ed, Imi, George, Lara, Laura, Grace and Charlie) took on the notoriously difficult Three Peaks Challenge! They raced the clock to climb the UK’s three highest peaks – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon – within 24 hours, and climbed both day and night to conquer these summits!

If you have any questions about our challenge, please email Alice Lowe at lowe_alice@yahoo.co.uk.
